Mauritius Equity Watch | 8 July 2015: Mauritius stock indices in red but Market Cap MUR 592 Mill up
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets backed to red after two days gains. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.19 percent or 3.66 points to settle at 1,969.62 points and the SEM10 index closed at 373.74 levels, after tumbled by 0.09 percent or 0.35 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 218.977 billion, by adding MUR 592 million (relative to MUR 218.385 billion recorded at previous trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 9.473 million (vs. 6.831 yesterday) with total valued traded at MUR 130.636 million, higher than previous trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were New Mauritius Hotels Limited by exchanging 5.220 million (out which 5.206 million shares were right issues) with total value traded of MUR 347,070 and SUN RESORT registered 2.797 million securities at MUR 120.273 million. SBM Holdings Mauritius had 1.022 million traded stocks at MUR 899,454 and The Mauritius Development Investment Trust Co. Limited ended with a total volume of 195,300 at MUR 1.047 million.
From the market sentiment/breath perspectives, there were 3 price leaders and 9 price laggards. The three price leaders were ENL Land Limited (added 1.10 percent to end at MUR 46.00), LOTTOTECH Limited (gained 0.39 percent to close at MUR 5.18) and ROGERS (rose by 0.33 to settle at MUR 30.30). On the laggards’ region, New Mauritius Hotels tumbled by 66.67 percent to trade at MUR 0.02 and AIR Mauritius summersaulted by 4.55 percent to trade at MUR 10.50. Also, CIM Financial Services went down by 2.32 percent to close at MUR 9.28 and LUX ISLAND RESORT plunged by 1.59 percent to close at MUR 1.59. Also, Mauritius Oil Refineries, closed at MUR 27.50, by losing 1.43 percent.
The DEMEX index ended green, by adding 0.32 percent or 0.66 points to close at 207.61 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 49.342 billion, by gaining MUR 157 million from MUR 49.185 billion recorded at previous trading session. Total value traded was MUR 6.716 million exchanged in 152,125 traded securities. SODIA gained 9.38 percent to trade at MUR 0.35 and PHOENIX Investment Company Limited closed at MUR 240.00, by adding 9.09 percent. On the other hand, Liverstock Feed Limited (Preference) slumped by 0.21 percent to close at MUR 24.00 and CIEL Textile Limited ended at MUR 37.95, after falling by 0.13 percent.
